Staying Local, for Once

25 October 2010

For once I decided to take some day-long adventures for a weekend rather than doing my typical cross-country jaunts.  Mostly because I am headed to Washington DC on Wednesday and wanted to relax some. On Saturday, Erin and I headed up into the mountains west of Denver and saw snow! I cannot wait for the snow to start here, it seems like winter is taking forever to get here.  We went shopping at the outlets up in Dillon, and then hit the pumpkin patch and the pub in my old hometown on the way back home.

On Sunday, we headed for Colorado Springs, about an hour and such south of Denver.  There we went to Garden of the Gods which is a park with a whole bunch of sandstone rock formations backed by beautiful Pikes Peak (which you can drive up for $12/person… but we were cheap).  Then we went to Manitou Springs, a little town just at the base of the mountain full of little shoppes and cafes.  Overall a very relaxing and beautiful day. Now I just have a couple of days work, then its off to Washington DC for 5 days.
