I know, I know. A few posts ago I vowed that it was going to be a long time before I went back to Salt Lake City again. However, with two top five ranked football teams playing and a very cheap ($81) plane ticket, I could not say no. So, in my travel terms, three months is a long time!
The whole trip started at 4.30am when I had to wake up to head to the airport, after a modest 3ish hours of sleeping. After the quick hour long flight, and my first experience of being a ‘premier’ car rental customer. I made it to the University of Utah campus in time to watch the second half of them filming ESPN GameDay in the parking lot. Then it was off to find breakfast and booze, before heading off to the game around noon.
The game was… bad. All I am going to say is: 47-7… them.
Afterwards, I just wanted to fly right back to Denver. However, instead of wasting more money on a 12 hour trip I traveled around the city and caught up with as many friends as possible over dinner and drinks. Turned out to be a pretty good vacation in the land of salt (at least till I tried to find somewhere to eat Sunday morning in Utah County, then I remembered what drove me nuts about the place).
Now I am back home for my longest stretch since the move, I don’t know what I am going to do! Minneapolis in 30 days for some Mall of America Holiday Shopping (yes, Minnesota in December).
