My whirlwind week of conferences and expos continued this week with the Snowsports Industries America (SIA) SnowShow in Denver. The SnowShow was four crazy days of expo time at the convention center checking out all the latest gear and equipment. I also had a chance to grab a few giveaways and beers in between the dozens of handshakes given and business cards exchanged.
By Monday, even with sore feet from walking miles on the expo floor, it was time to head up to Winter Park for the on-snow demo days of the SnowShow. I spent the day carving up the mountain on the awesome Icelantic Nomad skis, which I immediately fell in love with. It was a beautiful day up in Winter Park, with crystal blue skies and only a little wind blowing in during the afternoon. I also had a great chance to catch up with my friend Marie that I had not seen since earlier in the autumn. After shredding up the mountain we grabbed happy hour at the Cheeky Monk, before I headed down for some dinner and beer at Tommyknockers in Idaho Springs with my friend Halley.
On Tuesday it was time to hit up Arapahoe Basin with my friend Simone on another bluebird day. Sadly the lack of snow this winter was quite visible up at 12,000 feet with a lot of ice on the groomers and exposed trees in the glades. Nonetheless, was able to carve up Pali for a few runs before my legs reminded me it was my second day skiing hard in a row. After a lunch break spent basking in the sun on the lodge deck, we hit a few more runs before heading back down to Boulder for the afternoon.
Now with a solid storm headed for the front range of Colorado on Friday, cannot wait to get some more skiing in this season. It might have started late, but now it’s time for me to play catch up!
